Emily Campbell - Textile Artist

Emily Campbell is a textile maker based in Somerset who specialises in creating colour‑rich, unpredictable soft furnishings, banners, cushions, and accessories. Shes uses traditional upholstery techniques to make new items from sustainably sourced vintage second‑hand fabrics.

Her work blends nostalgia, mindful craft, and sustainable practice in every handmade piece that she sells online and at markets.

When Emily asked me to capture a series of portraits, our aim was to visually reflect the tactile, vibrant, and thoughtful nature of her creative practice.

We created an intimate session in her Somerset studio, allowing the textures, colours, and atmosphere of her workspace from lush British-wool cushions to whimsical banners, to inform both styling and mood.

The session felt both grounded and playful, anchored in the studio’s tangible creative energy, with Emily’s personality and process shining through in every frame.

The lifestyle portraits now serve as a visual signature for her brand - authentic, soulful, and true to her ethos.

They showcase Emily not only as a maker but as a storyteller, embodying her commitment to slow, joyful, and sustainable textile art.

These images enrich her website, help her connect with clients seeking thoughtful design, and beautifully complement her handcrafted offerings.

“I loved everything about my shoot with Celie. The shoot was fun and relaxed and while setting up we chatted. I felt as though she really understood my making practice and what I wanted to achieve with the images. When it came to getting in front of the camera, I felt so at ease and I didn't feel self conscious. Receiving the photographs, I was really happy to see she had captured corners of my studio I often overlook. The images have such texture and warmth to them. Celie captured both me as a maker and my studio with a real sense of creativity and playfulness.”
