Frome’s Sustainable Fashion Community

Collaborative efforts to bring new, important ideas and actions to the public are always a joy to document.

Future Shed - an initiative by Edventure Frome under the Green & Healthy Frome programme - supports community-led, green-and-healthy ventures through training, coaching, and events that spark sustainable action.

Their work, combined with Everyone Needs Pockets - a network of 150+ makers, designers, stitchers, and secondhand clothing enthusiasts that celebrates activity such as “How to Mend Your Clothes” is a match made in heaven.

Together, they host events and act as a hub for Frome Sustainable Fashion Week.

Over the last few years, my role has been visually documenting public events where creativity, community, and sustainable fashion meet. These have been in public spaces, at workshops, mend-in-public gatherings and information evenings.

To align with the values of these community organisations, I have thoughtfully captured the moments that matter most:

Close-up and detail shots

Hands at work, textile textures, repair in motion to bring focus to craftsmanship and the tactile quality of the cause.

Wider environment scenes

Crowds gathering, public interactions, and shared activity, showing the energy and aprpeciation of each event.

Respectful presence

My approach as a photographer was unobtrusive and empathetic, helping participants feel both seen and comfortable.

Warm visual tone

Through lighting, framing, and composition, the images radiate a welcoming, community-minded energy.

These images have been used by Sustainable Fashion Week and shared widely amongst the community to raise awareness of the causes they so powerfully stand for.

“Celie has created outstanding and beautiful photos for us. We've loved working with her. Celie photographed events for us in our project - often people doing activities in public spaces. We needed images that were up close and detailed as well as those that captured the overall activity. Celie did this perfectly, creating warm and beautiful images that we all love and use as much as we can. Celie is a pleasure to work with. She is a clear communicator, and arranged everything with us from the start to the final gallery of images. Her photography during the public events was always sensitive and aware. Celie's an inspiration and I highly recommend her as a photographer to work with.”
