London Photowalk

This weekend's Photowalk in London's Holland Park was a delight from start to finish.
We started with a short grounding exercise to settle into the space and feel more present in our creative minds.
I spoke about how our storytelling styles are all unique and how we can tap into them using three key focus points of colour, shape and light.
Then we followed a route I created which weaved through dappled light and ivy paths into the stunning Kyoto Gardens.
We made images that represented our personal ways of seeing the world, with some attendees discovering a love of macro textures, and some enjoying documenting the people around them.
Walking through the Dutch Gardens, we paid special attention to the peacocks and herons alongside the gorgeous flowers.
We even met and photographed dogs and their owners before settling down with an ice cream to share our thoughts and images from the walk.

I was excited to overhear:
“It’s so lush to get out of the house and do something fun and random in the sunshine with cool people”
“OMG that photo is absolutely fricken stunning, just look at it!”
“Ooh, I’ve never thought about looking at it in that way”
“All I’m going to think about when I’m walking around now is colour, light and shape”

What I really love about these events is that everyone responds to their environment in such different ways. All of our photos are so varied because our perceptions and interests are unique to us.
Some people used phones, and some compact cameras and DSLRs - it really is a place for everyone to come together and develop this amazing skill of closely looking at our surroundings, and making art with it.
It's such a privilege to share this joy with the world and we raised another £100 for the people of Palestine - £340 in total - through these Photowalks. Thank you to everyone who attended and we missed those who were ill on the day - we'll see you next time!
